- Assistant Professor dr. Matjaž Sajovic, M.D., Specialist in Orthopaedics, is the Deputy Head of the Orthopaedic and Sports Injury Unit at the Celje General Hospital.
- At a young age, he was a top athlete and member of the former Yugoslavia national team competing in gymnastics and decathlon. He completed his undergraduate medical studies and orthopaedic specialisation in Ljubljana. In 2010, he successfully defended his PhD dissertation at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Maribor dealing with surgery techniques and rehabilitation following sports injuries. Since 2012, he has also worked as a lecturer there.
- In the early 1990s he developed an accelerated rehabilitation following knee ligament surgeries whose laws have remained applicable to this day.
- In his early 20s, he also carried out sports injury surgeries (knee, shoulder, Achilles tendon) and was in charge of rehabilitation of numerous top athletes and members of the national team of the Republic of Slovenia. He works with the Ski Association of Slovenia, the Judo Association of Slovenia and the Handball Association of Slovenia. He is also an extremely successful operator when it comes to prosthetic care of the hip and knee joint.
- He is an active participant of and invited lecturer at numerous international congresses and symposiums dealing with orthopaedics, sports medicine and rehabilitation. He has published numerous papers in the most renowned journals in Slovenia and abroad.
- Since 1996, he has been a Member of the European Society of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology. In 2012, he was in the running to become an Associate Member of The American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. During the same year, he also became Member of the Editorial Committee of the renowned global journal World Journal of Orthopaedics.

- Sašo Puncer was born on 28 January 1958 in Celje. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ljubljana in 1986 and completed his orthopaedic specialisation in 1994.
- Until 2001, he held a full-time job at the Orthopaedic Unit of the Orthopaedic and Sports Injury Clinic at the Celje General Hospital. He carried out surgeries that formed part of prosthetic care, paediatric orthopaedics and foot surgery in particular.
- He attended several trainings, most especially further training undergone at the renowned British orthopaedic clinic in Stanmore near London. He was selected in addition to other younger promising orthopaedic surgeons from all over Europe and acted under the supervision of Prof. Bailey. During his stay at the hospital, he gave a lecture on surgical experiences with Perthes' disease in children, for which he was awarded the second place award for Europe. He continued to participate in local and international expert meetings and congresses where he was also actively involved. He headed the risk spine paediatric clinic for several years and underwent relevant further training.
- Since 2001, he has worked for Terme Zreče as Head of the Health Care Centre, later on as the Expert Manager and currently as the Head of Specialist Dispensaries.
- He is involved in rehabilitation procedures of Health Resort patients and has also been an Honorary Member of the Slovenian Society for PRM for years.
